The Future of the Teaching Profession

Conference „The Future of the Teaching Profession“  was held on February 16 and 17, at the University of Cambridge.

This two-day event was devoted to exploration of research and policy in relation to teacher quality and the development of the teaching profession. The seminar included more than 70 representatives from government, academia, unions and schools from 28 countries.

Within the session Towards a Professional Future, Gordana Miljević from the Centre for Education Policy presented successful  regional  cooperation in South East Europe within the Education Support Program of the Open Society Foundations (ESP/OSF) projects   aiming to promote educational justice by the research evidence based policy and practice actions.  The actions are  focused on empowering teachers and parents to build partnerships and have a stronger voice in policies and decision making.

A draft of professor John MacBeath’s next book ‘The Future of the Teaching Profession’ was presented on this occasion.

This conference was organised by Leadership for Learning: the Cambridge Network (LfL) together with Education International (EI), the global federation of teacher organisations; the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s Centre for Educational Research and Innovation (OECD/CERI); and Open Society Foundations (OSF).
